Grammar Notes:
One of the differences between Thai and English is that in Thai the adjective comes after the noun. For example:
If the orange is not sweet, then all you need to do is to add the Thai word for "not" into the sentence:
Perhaps at this point of eating your "orange not sweet", you are wondering if your friend's orange is sweet or not. To ask this question, simply put the word for "or not?" at the end of the sentence. You can think of it this way:
Note however, that the "mai" before the adjective and the "mai" at the end of the sentence are pronounced with different tones. Try to hear the difference in the tones when you do the exercises. For example:
sôm mâi wǎhn → falling tone
sôm wǎhn mái → rising tone
